This is going to be a bit of a different post today. I honestly never expected to do a game review, but here we are. A couple of days ago, while waiting for maintenance and an update on Elder Scrolls Online, I was browing the Xbox Game Pass games list and came across a game called Tiny Bookshop. I immediately downloaded it and began to try it out. The game is a super cute cozy game where you run, you guessed it, a tiny bookshop.

The bookshop is run out of a wagon attached to the players car. Basically you stock books every day and then try to sell as many of them as possible. There are a load of items available in various places around the game that help (or hinder) your chances of selling success.

You can use the newspaper to determine where to go next (in conjunction with in-game local events) and can even buy more stock.

Then, once you have stocked up, decorated your shop, and arrived at your chosen location, all you have to do is sit back and let the customers come to you. Until someone needs a recommendation, that is.

The recommendations is probably my favorite part of the game (other than making money) because a majority of the books provided are real live books like Stephen King’s It or Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility. Customers give you a few hints about what they are looking for and from your current stock you give them a recommendation.

There are, of course, side quests and achievements to be earned as well for everyone who needs a little bit of guidance or prefers a storyline. The game is not challenging at all and is super sweet and made me daydream about owning my own bookshop.
If you need a cozy little game with no stakes and you love books, then I sincerely recommend this game. It’s very sweet and easy and a great way to wake up while waiting for your morning caffeine to hit just right (I speak from experience).
I played on Xbox but it looks like the game is available on all platforms including Switch. Happy playing!
