Book Blogging – Is It Worth It?

The blogging space has changed a lot but I think there’s still value in book blogs! I enjoy reading more in depth thoughts and making connections that aren’t as algorithm driven. And I think my book blog gets me more opportunities for ARCs than my socials. Mainly because I, too, am not a video-making human lol.

It can be stressful for sure and I’ve definitely had that feeling like it’s a job before, too. But for me, it’s worth it for the joy of getting to yap about books.

I am with you a hundred percent. I love getting to yap about books. It’s just sometimes it feels like I’m talking to myself. But I need to build my SEO for certain and I am thinking about getting back on Facebook for engagement from there. I unfortunately deleted my FB page when I quit blogging all those years ago because I thought I would never come back. Alas, it was a mistake, but I’ll remedy that, I think, once I finish with school next week. thank you so much for your comment!!

I definitely know that feeling! It does feel like talking into the void a lot of the time. I started a Facebook page for my blog not too long ago. I don’t do much with it besides use the auto-post function for new posts, but I do think it has helped a teeny tiny bit.

Interesting post and questions. It really all depends on your purpose for the blog. My blog isn’t focused specifically on book reviews, but I do quite a few because I simply enjoy reading. The reviews I write are based on books that interest me and that I’ve personally purchased. I get good engagement, in part because I’ve built strong connections within the WP community, and I like to include my own opinions and commentary in my reviews.

I think you’re doing well. I read your reviews at least once a week since I started following you. Keep doing what you love, and the engagement will come naturally.

Thank you so much for your comment AND for your kind words! I really hope to be able to build my own strong connection with other WP bloggers once I finish with my finals. As it is at this moment, I am struggling to find time to even write reviews while doing research and writing for my final papers. But once that is all over, I plan to dedicate a couple of hours every day in the reader and on the blogs I follow. Not just for building a community but also just to be able to spread some book-loving love out there to all the other bloggers who work so hard on their blogs!

You’re welcome, and I totally understand. I really increased my reading after retiring, which coincided with starting my blog. I still consider myself a baby blogger. It’s hard to do it all when you’re working or studying full time.
