Hi friends! Welcome back to another WWW Wednesday at The Book Wench! I hope everyone had a wonderful week of reading! This week was slightly productive for me. I made progress in several of my books but only finished three (and a movie adaptation). Still, I did hours and hours of reading and I am pleased with my progress, nevertheless.
This weekly feature was originally hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm but is currently hosted at Taking on a World of Words and asks bloggers to share with the world three things:
What Are You Currently Reading
What Did You Recently Finish Reading
What Do You Think You’ll Read Next
That’s it! Just answer the three Ws and that’s the post! Let’s get started!
What I Have Finished

I am honestly surprised at how easy to read and informative this book was. Barely over a hundred pages and I feel like I learned so much about the beginning of Latin American Literature. This is the second “A Very Short Introduction” book I have read and it is as informative and useful as the first. I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to learn more about the history of Latin American Lit.

The essays in this book were thoughtful and deep and some ever made me cry. It made me take a very long look at myself and who I am and how I am with other people. It was an excellent source to read in order to see the variety of diaspora felt the world over and I would recommend it to anyone who wanted to understand that diaspora on a deeper level.

This book was a fun, flirty read and kept me laughing with the awkwardness between Olive and Adam as they navigated fake dating. I really enjoyed it and it cemented Hazelwood as a favorite RomCom writer.

While there were a number of changes, some better than others and some for unknown reasons, I still enjoyed this adaptation. The two main actors were great at their roles and I only have a few notes of things I would have liked to see (more of). It was a fun adaptation and really captured the essence of the book. And Anh STOLE the show. She was my favorite character.
What I Am Reading Now

I have made quite a bit of progress in my reread. I think the fact that it is a reread is what is slowing me down. I know what is going to happen so I don’t feel as much of a push to rush through the story. Still, I’m enjoying being back in Prythian and will hopefully finish it before next Wednesday.

I have not made any progress since last Wednesday although I do hope to ameliorate that this week. I was so focused on finishing what I did finish that I didn’t read much of this. I am enjoying it though and cannot wait to dive back in.

I have only read a few pages of this since last week but that is not due to anything negative on the book’s behalf. It is beautifully written, for a nonfiction piece, it is just very dense and informative which can become unwieldy when not quite in the mood for reading nonfiction. I do hope to make some progress in it by next Wednesday, however.

I made quite a lot of progress in this book as well and I am enjoying just how beautifully Cañas writes. some passages are just so beautifully executed that I read them multiple times before moving on. I just love her imagery and how she describes things. Beautiful.

While I am still technically reading this, I have not made any progress at all in months but I do hope to finish it before too much longer. I had a hard time with believability with regard to certain psychological aspects of the novel, which I will explain in my review, so it has fallen by the wayside for me but I do hope to give it another chance soon.
What I Am Reading Next

As always, this is on the horizon for me, especially with the third book on its way. I look forward to getting to delve back into the world and find out what the hell is going on.

Cañas could write an ad for toilet paper and I would read it in rapture. I haven’t even finished Vampires of El Norte and I’m already excited to read this one. She is that good.

I still continue to hear such wonderful things about this book and its sequeal so I am, as ever, excited to get to read it. Apparently I will love someone named Bartholomew, who I think is a gargoyle? I don’t know but I am excited to find out.

With how successfully I enjoyed the “A Very Short Introduction” books on Diaspora and on Colonial Latin American Literature, I am looking forward to devling into this one and seeing what it has in store for me and my brain. And I’m excited to see names I recognize as well as get recommendations on what to read next.
