Goals, goals, goals. At the beginning of each new year so many people set goals to better themselves in the year ahead, and I am no different! That’s why this T5W worked out perfectly!
In case you aren’t familiar with T5W, it’s this great community on Goodreads created by Youtube book blogger Gingerreadslainey and hosted by Sam of Thoughts on Tomes. Every month group members are given topics for every Wednesday of that month to discuss on their respective platforms (blog, vlog, etc).
January 4th: 2017 Goals
These do not need to be reading goals specifically, they can be any goals you want to talk about. Reading goals, blog/channel/instagram goals, personal goals…anything!
Blog More
Okay, this one is pretty obvious. But my blogging record last year was pretty spotty and I want to keep that from happening again this year. Over the last couple of months I have been doing better, so here is to more of that!!
Again, pretty obvious! Last year I read 25 books. This year, my Goodreads goal is 80. It’s ambitious and scary but because I already have about 67 of those books planned out, I’m excited! It helps that I will be completing two challenges (which is where those 67 planned books come from). One of the challenges is the 2017 POPSUGAR Reading Challenge. The other is one that I am hosting: The Gilmore Girls Book Challenge on The Book Wench Blog!
Be More Present On My Blog’s Social Media Channels
This one is pretty self-explanatory. I have so many different social media outlets and I tend to spend more time on one than the other. I may just make it a “One day I work on these two and the next day I work on the rest” and just go back and forth. I have no clue. We’ll see.
Be Healthy
Ah yes. The weight-loss goal. The one that tops huge margin of “New Year’s Resolutions” lists and one that I claim every year and never follow through with.
My husband just bought me a fitbit because I have been wanting one for ages and really think it will help with my goal. I have a number of obstacles to overcomes (I’m seriously overweight, I have a knee injury that is only fixed by a surgery I’m not able to get right now, and I get migraines for the simplest things – including strenuous exercise). For the most part I’m going to focus on walking and low-key stationary-biking as well as healthy eating and we’ll see where that gets me by the time I am able to have my surgery.
Be More Involved
This year, I’ve been thinking about doing a little volunteering on some of my days off, if possible. I want be more active in my community and would like to help with a few causes that are really special to me. I want this year’s goals to not just be about what I can do for myself but what I can do for others. I would like to see if there are any local groups that focus on improving literacy rates or even book drives. Something related to things I know. It’s safe, but it’s a start!
Thanks for sticking with me! Here’s to me sticking with my goals (for once!) and I hope everyone else enjoys their achieving their goals too!
