The Fate of the Tearling is due to be released on November 29th, 2016. It was initially planned for a mid-year release, like its predecessors, but Johansen wanted to ensure that readers would have the very best ending possible.

Synopsis

In less than a year, Kelsea Glynn has transformed from a gawky teenager into a powerful monarch. As she has come into her own as the Queen of the Tearling, the headstrong, visionary leader has also transformed her realm. In her quest to end corruption and restore justice, she has made many enemies – including the evil Red Queen, her fiercest rival, who has set her armies against the Tear. To protect her people from a devastating invasion, Kelsea did the unthinkable – she surrendered herself and her magical sapphires to her enemy, and named the Mace, the trusted head of her personal guards, Regent in her place. But the Mace will not rest until he and his men rescue their sovereign from her prison in Mortmesne. Now the endgame begins and the fate of Queen Kelsea – and the Tearling itself – will finally be revealed…

The Queen of the Tearling

The Invasion of the Tearling

This first two novels, though still lesser-known compared to many contemporaries, have received their fair share of praise:

The Queen of the Tearling

“I couldn’t put the bloody thing down. It would be fair to say I became obsessed with the role and the book” (Emma Watson)

“Erika Johansen bursts onto the fantasy scene with a page-turner full of adventure, sorcery, swords, and politics — not to mention a clever heroine with guts and conviction to spare. The Queen of the Tearling kept me up way past my bedtime, and left me wanting more!” (Helene Wecker, New York Times bestselling author of The Golem and the Jinni)

“Johansen makes an impressive debut with this ambitious fantasy adventure, which takes place several centuries from now following the collapse of civilization and mass migration to a newly discovered continent. . . . An engaging page-turner.” (Publishers Weekly)

The Invasion of the Tearling

“A dazzling and gripping followup. . . . Expertly combining modern and medieval themes, Johansen ratchets up suspense as she weaves a magical story that crosses time . . . one of the most original and well-written series in recent memory.” (USA Today.com)

“Meet the next Katniss Everdeen. If you missed last year’s The Queen of the Tearling, run, don’t walk, to get it.” (Entertainment Weekly)

Take my advice, if you haven’t read it yet, hurry up and do so. You’re in for an amazing treat!
