There’s no such thing as a perfect guy, but Xavier Rush comes disastrously close. A gorgeous veterinarian giving Greek god vibes—all while cuddling a tiny kitten? Immediate yes. That is until Xavier opens his mouth and proves that even sculpted gods can say the absolute wrong thing. Like, really wrong. Of course, there’s nothing Samantha loves more than proving an asshole wrong … unless, of course, he can admit he made a mistake.
But after one incredible and seemingly endless date, Samantha is forced to admit the truth, that her family is in crisis and any kind of relationship would be impossible. Samantha begs Xavier to forget her. To remember their night together as a perfect moment, as crushing as that may be. Only no amount of distance or time is enough to forget what’s between them. And the only thing better than one single perfect memory is to make a life—and even a love—worth remembering.
There isn’t a whole lot that I can say about Abby Jimenez that hasn’t already been said by her other fans. In addition to being a cupcake queen, she is a fantastic author who, like her character Samantha, just gets people and knows what to give them to make them happy. Say You’ll Remember Me is exactly that. Abby has given us exactly what readers wanted (and needed).
First off, it needs to be said, but Xavier may be my favorite Abby Jimenez man. He is strong and standoffish…until you get to know him. Then he becomes a teddy bear. Plus, he’s a veterinarian. What more can you want? Except he has more. So much more. And then there’s Samantha: a ball-busting go-getter with a great sense of humor and a dedication to her family that many people couldn’t fathom, let alone replicate. Abby has produced, as always, two excellent leads that I enjoyed watching fall in love (not a spoiler – the blurb tells you that).
The writing, as always is superb. Abby knows how to pace her books to keep readers turning pages and feeling fulfilled with every new chapter. There were no slumps or slow parts, nor did anything feel forced or too fast. It was like the bed Goldilocks chose…just right.
This book had me laughing and crying (ugly crying – like seriously ugly crying) and wondering just how it was going to play out. Abby never fails to weave a wonderful tale that can be simultaneously light-hearted and heavy at the same time. She tackles hard subjects and makes her characters feel as real as the reality that they emulate. If you love romantic comedies, strong FMCs, bat-winged fae with giant wingspans (holy ACOTAR reference Batman), and realistic situations for your characters to navigate, then Say You’ll Remember Me is definitely a book you should check out. I love Abby as she does heartfelt books with humor and hard realities so realistically. She is an instant-buy author now!
