Hello my fellow bookworms! Thank you for checking out my first “Upcoming Releases” post! With this and every post in the future, I hope my readers are able to find a book that they may not have otherwise known about or have their excitement about a particular novel rekindled. Here are the two books I am particularly looking forward to that will be released in the next two weeks.
A warning: both books listed below are sequels, so if you haven’t read their predecessors, I would recommend not reading beyond this point.
Library of Souls: The Third Novel of Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children
By Ransom Riggs
To be released on September 22, 2015
Synopsis: Time is running out for the Peculiar Children. With a dangerous madman on the loose and their beloved Miss Peregrine still in danger, Jacob Portman and Emma Bloom are forced to stage the most daring of rescue missions. They’ll travel through a war-torn landscape, meet new allies, and face greater dangers than ever. . . . Will Jacob come into his own as the hero his fellow Peculiars know him to be? This action-packed adventure features more than 50 all-new Peculiar photographs.
My thoughts: Having read the first two books in this trilogy (the joint review will be available to read this weekend) I am excited to see how this one rounds out the story. Riggs has created a spectacularly intriguing world with fun and eccentric characters who I truly hope to see succeed (and live) through this finale. I am especially excited to see the new photos included in this installment! If you haven’t read the first two books, I certainly recommend it!
By Jojo Moyes
To be released on September 29, 2015
Synopsis: How do you move on after losing the person you loved? How do you build a life worth living?
Louisa Clark is no longer just an ordinary girl living an ordinary life. After the transformative six months spent with Will Traynor, she is struggling without him. When an extraordinary accident forces Lou to return home to her family, she can’t help but feel she’s right back where she started.
Her body heals, but Lou herself knows that she needs to be kick-started back to life. Which is how she ends up in a church basement with the members of the Moving On support group, who share insights, laughter, frustrations, and terrible cookies. They will also lead her to the strong, capable Sam Fielding—the paramedic, whose business is life and death, and the one man who might be able to understand her. Then a figure from Will’s past appears and hijacks all her plans, propelling her into a very different future. . . .
For Lou Clark, life after Will Traynor means learning to fall in love again, with all the risks that brings. But here Jojo Moyes gives us two families, as real as our own, whose joys and sorrows will touch you deeply, and where both changes and surprises await.
After You is quintessential Jojo Moyes—a novel that will make you laugh, cry, and rejoice at being back in the world she creates. Here she does what few novelists can do—revisits beloved characters and takes them to places neither they nor we ever expected.
My thoughts: I have been eagerly awaiting this book since I first fell in love with Lou and Will’s story. Having left off where we did following Will’s death and Lou’s temporary estrangement with her family I cannot wait to see what happens in this book. Outside what I have read in the synopsis, I have no clue what is going to happen, but I can say one thing for sure: I know that this will be as beautiful woven and emotionally taxing as it’s predecessor.**
My next “Upcoming Releases” post will be available on October 1st. In the meantime, what are some books you are looking forward to?
